Please read the entire regulation carefully before registering for the competition.

1.Registration Process

Audition Video
Your audition video should be your most recent performance or most recent rehearsal video. Regardless, be sure to submit the video that best represents your or your group’s abilities.

IMPORTANT: THE VIDEO DOES NOT NECESSARILY HAVE TO REPRESENT THE PERFORMANCE THAT WILL THEN BE PERFORMED ON STAGE AT WORLD OF DANCE.

Unfortunately we cannot accept dance class videos as audition videos. Entries that include dance class videos will not be accepted.

The application process through audition videos will not apply to the K-Pop Division and K-Pop Crew Division categories.

2. WOD Rome 2025 Categories

CATEGORIES COMPETING ON APRIL 26th

  • KPOP DIVISION: 1 to 4 dancers. Open age. 1:30 minutes max.
  • KPOP CREW DIVISION: Min 5 dancers. Open Age.  4:00 minutes max.
  • JUNIOR A DIVISION: 1 to 4 dancers. Max 12 years old. 1:30 minutes max.
  • JUNIOR B DIVISION: 1 to 4 dancers. 13 to 15 years old. 1:30 minutes max.
  • JUNIOR C DIVISION: 1 to 4 dancers. 16 to 17 years old. 1:30 minutes max.
  • JUNIOR TEAM DIVISION: Min 5 dancers. Max 18 years old. 6:00 minutes max.

CATEGORIES COMPETING ON APRIL 27th

  • JUNIOR STUDIO DIVISION: Minimum 5 dancers. Up to 15 years of age included, every 5 dancers is admitted one participant out of quota, not included in the 5. Category dedicated to dancers, dance schools and non-professional dancers. [Beginner category]. 4:00 minutes max.
  • ADULT STUDIO DIVISION: Min 5 dancers. Open age. Category dedicated to dancers, dance schools and non-professional dancers. [Beginner category]. 4:00 minutes max.
  • UPPER DIVISION: 1 to 4 dancers. Mix 18 years old. 2:00 minutes max.
  • JUNIOR TEAM DIVISION: Min 5 dancers. Open age. 6:00 minutes max.

There are no dance genre distinctions in the categories (except for K-Pop), World of Dance is open to all dance styles, get on stage and express yourself in the way you love the most.

In the event that there is too low a number of entries in some categories, the management reserves the right to merge multiple categories into a single category.

For example: the Junior A Division and Junior B Division and Junior C Division categories could be merged into a single category called Junior Division in case there are not enough entries in the two categories separately. The same goes for the Junior Studio Division and Adult Studio Division categories which could be merged into a single category called Studio Division.

The management reserves the right to move a participant or a participating crew from the category requested during registration to a more suitable category in compliance with the subdivision criteria established in this regulation.

Please note: The only categories that guarantee an invitation to the WOD SUMMIT in California are the Junior Team Division and the Team Division.

3. WOD SUMMIT E WOD FINALS COMPETITION INVITE & COMPETITION PROCESS

All crews of 5 or more members will have the opportunity to compete at the World of Dance Summit regardless of their final ranking or score on the individual qualifier event they are competing in.

The World of Dance Summit will feature 3 rounds of competition in both the “Junior Team Division” and “Team Division” categories before the event concludes with the World of Dance Finals Competition.

The path followed during the World of Dance Summit Competition will be as follows:

  • WOD Summit Opening Round
  • WOD Summit Challenger Round
  • WOD Summit Championship Round
  • The 10 best teams from the “Junior Team Division” and the “Team Division” will then have access to the “World of Dance Finals Competition”.

How a crew places in their country’s qualifiers will determine which round they will be eligible to compete in at the World of Dance Summit Competition.

Teams of 5 or more dancers from the Junior Team Division, Team Division or any additional category approved during a national qualifier will be invited to compete in a specific round based on the following criteria:

  • Championship Round:
    Crew with a score of 90 or higher on the Bell Curve.
  • Challenger Round:
    Crew with a score of 80 and 89.99 on the Bell Curve.
  • Opening Round:
    Crew with a score below 80 on the Bell Curve.

Teams may also be placed into a specific round in either the Team Division, or Jr. Team Division per World of Dance discretion. Teams may attend additional qualifying events to attain a higher bell curve score.

World of Dance Summit Competition placement invites can be extended to two years if teams are unable to secure visa application appointments within a given competition season.

WORLD OF DANCE SUMMIT COMPETITION PROCESS AND ADVANCEMENT

  • Opening Round: Everyone that has competed at World of Dance qualifying event and has scored below 80 in the bell curve.
    Advancement to the Challenger Round: Top 5 teams from the Jr. Team and Team Divisions will advance to the Challenger Round.
    • Advancement to the Challenger Round: Top 5 teams from the Jr. Team and Team Divisions will advance to the Challenger Round.
    * Please note that if the opening round does not have the minimum of 10 teams competing in a specific division, the teams competing will be rolled up into the Challenger round.
  • Challenger Round: Everyone that scores 80-89.99 in bell curve, across all regionals – applied to Jr. Team and Team Divisions.
    Advancement to the Championship Round: The top 5 teams from the Jr. Team and Team Divisions will advance to the Championship Round.
  • Championship Round: Everyone that scores 90+ in bell curve, across all regionals – applied to Jr. Team and Team Divisions.

World of Dance Finals Competition: Finals competition with top 10 Jr. Team Division teams and top 10 Team Division teams from Summit Competition. Top 3 get a title, trophy, and cash prize

4. SPECIAL RULES FOR K-POP

Yes, as long as the artist has promoted K-Pop in South Korea. (Songs from international artists such as XG will be eligible as long as they have promoted in South Korea on TV programs such as Mnet etc.)

Yes.

(Backup dancers will be considered in the total count. For example, if a duo has three backup dancers with a total of 5 people, they will not be able to access the K-Pop Division but only the K-Pop Crew Division.)

5. REGISTRATION & PAYMENT

To make the registration request, simply click on the appropriate link within https://linktr.ee/woditaly and fill it in in all its parts. Once you have completed the registration request, you will have to wait a few days to receive the response via email.

Once you have been accepted to compete, you will need to:

  • Fill in all parts of the official PDF document which will be sent to you via email. Completing the PDF in all its parts is mandatory in order to confirm your registration. The payment methods for registration fees will be sent in the same email.
  • Pay the registration fee. The payment methods for the registration fees will be sent in the same acceptance email.

Registration Requirements

In the event that the age of your dancers does not fall within the category chosen during registration, this will lead to the disqualification of your group.

If you bring multiple crews and your dancers dance multiple times, they will pay a registration fee for each performance, also please let us know so that we can draw up the lineup correctly with respect for your crews and your dancers.

ATTENTION: EARLY BIRDS includes all participants who register and pay by January 31, 2025.

Only crews participating in the K-Pop Crew Division, Junior Team Division, Junior Studio Division, Studio Division and Team Division categories will be entitled to 1 single choreographer pass.

Registration must be confirmed with payment within one week of receiving the acceptance email under penalty of cancellation of the registration itself.

6. MUSIC

To complete the registration process, you must send the music no later than April 20th, 2025. All music must be prepared in mp3 format at 320 kbps and sent to italy@worldofdance.com.

Email subject: Dancer or Crew name – name of the event [es. “My crew – WODRM25 ”]

Music Screening Process

Once your group submits music, the World of Dance team will review it to ensure it meets standards. No swearing or offensive language is permitted. World of Dance is a family event and all music will need to be cleaned up.

ATTENTION: Music analysis will only take place if the music is sent by April 20th, 2025. All music received after this date will not be analyzed. If your group is asked to clean up the music more than twice, they may be disqualified from the event.

MAXIMUM PERMITTED LENgTH OF MUSIC FOR ALL CATEGORIES

  • K-POP DIVISION: 1.30 minutes
  • K-POP CREW DIVISION: 4.00 minutes
  • JUNIOR A/B/C DIVISION: 1.30 minutes
  • JUNIOR TEAM DIVISION: 6.00 minutes
  • JUNIOR STUDIO DIVISION: 4.00 minutes
  • ADULT STUDIO DIVISION: 4.00 minutes
  • UPPER DIVISION: 2.00 minutes
  • TEAM DIVISION: 6.00 minutes

It is in no way permitted to exceed these durations.

The choreographer will still have to bring with him (on the day of the event) a USB stick with a copy of the same music. The music contained in the USB stick must necessarily be the same one approved by the World of Dance team. This copy will be requested ONLY IF there are problems with the music received via email.

In the event that the music on the stick is different from the one approved, the crew will no longer be able to carry out the performance and will be prevented from participating in the World of Dance in the future. Don’t try to elude the rules!

7. PRE-SHOW PACKET

To prepare you for your performance we will send you a pdf presentation a few days before the event. The presentation will include: the times of the day, crew check-in, sample jury sheet and many other essential information for participating in the event.

No performance schedules will be communicated in advance of the event date.

8. JUDGE’S PANEL & SCORING SYSTEM

Curious to know how voting works? For each event the designated jury will decide the votes of the crews. The jury will be composed as follows:

  • K-POP & K-POP CREW DIVISION: 3 JUDGES + 1 HEAD JUDGE.
  • JUNIOR A/B/C DIVISION: 3 JUDGES + 1 HEAD JUDGE.
  • JUNIOR STUDIO & ADULT STUDIO DIVISION: 3 JUDGES + 1 HEAD JUDGE.
  • UPPER DIVISION: 3 JUDGES + 1 HEAD JUDGE.
  • JUNIOR TEAM & TEAM DIVISION: 5 JUDGES + 1 HEAD JUDGE

All judges will meet the eligibility, training, skill level and requirements established for a World of Dance event.

As regards the JUNIOR DIVISION A/B/C, JUNIOR TEAM DIVISION, JUNIOR STUDIO DIVISION, ADULT STUDIO DIVISION, UPPER DIVISION, and TEAM DIVISION categories, all judges will follow the following voting criteria

  • PERFORMANCE (Facials – Energy – Stage Presence – Showmanship) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • TECHNIQUE (Cleanliness of Routine – Dynamics in Movement – Execution – Foundations – Body Control – Musicality – Timing / Synchronization) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • CHOREOGRAPHY (Originality of Routine – Creativity in Routine – Concept – Variety of Routine – Musicality) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • CREATIVITY (Music Selection – Transitions – Theme – Staging/ Blocking) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • PRESENTATION (Costume – Performance Attire – Hair & Make-Up Attitude – Facial Expression) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)

As regards the K-POP DIVISION and K-POP CREW DIVISION categories, all judges will follow the following voting criteria

  • PERFORMANCE (Facials – Energy – Stage Presence – Showmanship) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • TECHNIQUE (Cleanliness of Routine – Dynamics in Movement – Execution – Foundations – Body Control – Musicality – Timing / Synchronization) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • DIFFICULTY (Complexity of routine – Transitions – Variety of Routine) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • STAGE PRESENCE (Attitude – Facial Expression – Lip sync) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)
  • PRESENTATION (Costume – Performance Attire – Hair & Make-Up Attitude – Facial Expression) = 20% (20 points out of 100 total points)

ATTENTION:

  • Nel caso di giuria formata da 3 giurati il voto finale verrà calcolato attraverso media aritmetica dei tre voti assegnati dai tre giurati della categoria.

    Esempio: Giudice 1 = 82 | Giudice 2 = 91 | Giudice 3 = 78

    Giudice 1 + Giudice 2 + Giudice 3 = 82 + 91 + 78 = 251 / 3 (numero giudici) = 83,33 Voto finale.

  • Nel caso di giuria formata da 5 giurati il voto finale di ogni crew verrà calcolato scartando il giudice con il voto più alto ed il giudice con il voto più basso e facendo la media aritmetica dei voti restanti.

    Esempio: Giudice 1 = 74 | Giudice 2 = 80 | Giudice 3 = 85 | Giudice 4 = 78 | Giudice 5 = 68
    Vengono scartati i voti del Giudice 3 (voto più alto) e del Giudice 5 (voto più basso) e viene calcolato il voto finale nel seguente modo:

    Giudice 1 + Giudice 2 + Giudice 4 = 74 + 80 + 78 = 232 / 3 (numero giudici) = 77,33 Voto finale

DEDUCTIONS

  • UNAPPROVED PROPS: -1 points from final score (unapproved set pieces may result in disqualification)
  • WRONG MUSIC LENGTH: -0,25 points from final score
  • PROFANITY IN MUSIC: -0,1 points from final score

9. MAIN STAGE AREA & BACK STAGE SPECS

Venue / Staging

The dimensions of the stage will be approximately 16×10 meters with 2 wings per side. Other questions can be asked to the event manager by writing to italy@worldofdance.com.

Due to the nature of the location and the number of participants it will be almost impossible to provide private dressing rooms to the crews, however they will have ample space available to rehearse and prepare before the performance.

We remind you that all crews will be responsible for their own objects, bags and clothing.

The location, World of Dance staff and all people working on the event will not be held responsible for losses or any theft or damage to items left unattended.

Props

Do you have props? They will have to go through our approval process. World of Dance staff will need to approve all props, please email us at italy@worldofdance.com to request approval. All objects must be fireproof and must not cause damage to the stage in any way. The use of props not approved in advance will not be permitted.

Tech: Due to a very tight schedule, stage rehearsals will not be allowed.

10. AWARDS AND PRIZES

World of Dance will hold an awards ceremony at the end of each day of competition for all categories of that day.

Winners will receive event trophies for first, second and third place. In addition, the top finishers in each category will receive a prize:

  • K-POP DIVISION: 150 euros
  • K-POP CREW DIVISION: 300 euros
  • JUNIOR A DIVISION: 150 euros
  • JUNIOR B DIVISION: 150 euros
  • JUNIOR C DIVISION: 150 euros
  • JUNIOR TEAM DIVISION: 500 euros

CATEGORIES FOR 27th APRILE 2025

  • JUNIOR STUDIO DIVISION: 250 euros
  • ADULT STUDIO DIVISION: 300 euros
  • UPPER DIVISION: 300 euros
  • TEAM DIVISION: 1000 euros

Prizes will be paid within 60 days of the event itself.

Furthermore, in each category there will be 3 special prizes: Best Theme, Best Costume, Crowd Favorite.
